On mirrors in the interior design

If you have ever been interested in Feng Shui, you have probably stumbled upon different information regarding the best position for mirrors at home.

Let’s start with the bedroom. Almost everyone has heard that mirrors in this room are not recommended. This is true for a number of reasons. According to ancient traditions, what reflects the bed divides the people in the bed in two and leads to cheating, also prevents good sleep and creates chaos in the bedroom.

In almost all traditions, including in Bulgaria, mirrors are covered when a family member dies. The reasoning behind such traditions varies. A large portion of them originates in the distant past and we will not focus on them here. As in many other cases, it seems that our ancestors knew a lot of things we have simply forgotten.

According to Feng Shui, it is acceptable to have a mirror in the bedroom under several conditions. The mirror should be positioned in a way that does not reflect the bed or it should be covered at night. In case you have a mirror opposite your bed, you may put a veil or a scarf on it. It will help you sleep much better. The task becomes more complicated when you have a wardrobe with mirror doors. There are two variants then. To stick foil on the glass or to put a rail on the ceiling and hang a canopy or another soft fabric curtain that you can draw at night only. In this manner, you will not have to change your wardrobe, you will enrich your interior and at the same time, balance the energy in the room.

Dining rooms and corridors are the perfect places to put mirrors. They can make long or dark rooms fresh and spacious. When they are hung in a checkmate pattern in the corridor, they direct the energy to the rooms and also restore visually lacking spaces. It is not a problem if you put them opposite the front door but you should avoid positioning them right opposite the opening space of the door. And another tip: never put them one against another.
